In recent decades, learning another language and educating people with appropriate skills that address the requirements of the modern world have become significant issues. Today, around two billion people learn and use English to some extent, and this number is expected to rise. In the same vein, recent rapid technological advancements have made it mandatory to adjust the education system to the requirements of this era. Currently, in the field of pre-service education, various new approaches are being applied. This book will provide the reader with the chance to read about and understand contemporary topics, approaches and methodologies in education in various fields. In this sense, it will be an essential resource for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students and researchers wishing to learn about the recent developments in pre-service teacher education.

Cihat Atar received his BA in English Language Teaching from Bogazici University, Turkey in 2009. He holds a Master’s and PhD in Educational and Applied Linguistics from Newcastle University, UK. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English Language Teaching at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Turkey, and has worked on projects such as the Newcastle University Corpus of Academic Spoken English (NUCASE). He has published on English as a second language, Conversation Analysis for second language acquisition and second language teacher training, and the internationalization of higher education.

Hakkı Bağcı received his BA in Computer and Education Technology from Anadolu University and holds an MA from Anadolu University, Turkey. He holds a PhD from the University of Gazi, Turkey, and is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Technology Department at Sakarya University, Turkey. He has published several book chapters, articles and papers on educational technology, social media, mobile learning, and smart phone addiction. His academic interests include teacher training, blended learning, e-learning, educational technology, and the use of informational technology.
