This book affords the reader an in-depth history of Texas from the earliest Paleographical era, providing details of the occupation of Texas by Spain, France and Mexico, and gives the reader contemporary accounts of battles and incursions leading up to the Battle of the Alamo and to the establishment of Statehood.

Robert D. Morritt was born in Carlisle, Cumbria, England, and as a child grew up in Penarth, South Wales. He studied Prehistory and Early Agriculture at the University of Manchester, and also studied Communications at the University of Toronto. He is a musicologist and specialist on Rural and Appalachian Musicians, and of Country Blues. He has travelled extensively due to his hobbies throughout the Southern States and Appalachia, and many years ago made and recorded several journeys to the American Southwest.
