This volume considers the contemporary relevance of Aquinas’ thought and what parameters should influence its reception. It discusses the reception of Aquinas on creation ex nihilo and offers guidelines for reception in the fields of metaphysics and natural theology. Chapters on physics and philosophy of mind intersect with key modern debates. Contributions interpret Aquinas’ physics in light of contemporary findings and discuss his account of human self-awareness.

Timothy Kearns teaches at the College of Humanities in Cheshire, Connecticut, the college seminary of the Legionaries of Christ. He is Secretary of the Society for Medieval Logic and Metaphysics. His recent scholarship includes “Flourishing: Outlines of an Aristotelian Natural Philosophy of Living Things” in International Philosophical Quarterly.

Gyula Klima is a Professor of Philosophy at Fordham University, USA, Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Founding Member and Director of the Society for Medieval Logic and Metaphysics. Professor Klima’s most recent book is Questions on the Soul by John Buridan and Others: A Companion to John Buridan’s Philosophy of Mind.

Alex Hall is a Professor of Philosophy at Clayton State University, USA, and Assistant Director of the Society for Medieval Logic and Metaphysics. Hall’s recent scholarship includes “Aquinas on Knowledge and Demonstration” in The Philosophy of Knowledge: A History.
