This book provides a guide to find a “biopsychosocial” approach for headache in terms of team understanding by considering the issues on a case-by-case basis. To help headache patients find healing through biopsychosocial approaches it focuses not only on the causes of headache, but also pays attention to sleep, mobility, participation in social life, quality of bilateral relationships, nutrition and daily life cycles. Through this holistic approach, rather than summarising theoretical knowledge, a more interactive design that encourages the reader to think through a sample case have been imagined. The role and effectiveness of body awareness exercises, yoga, pilates, aerobic exercise, stretching and strengthening, breathing exercises, electrotherapy, connective tissue massage, osteopathy, chiropraxis, manual therapy, mobilisation, manipulation, lymphatic drainage, pain neuroscience training, dietary programmes to avoid or prevent headache-triggering foods, social adjustment with a professional approach and cognitive behavioural therapies in the management of headache are discussed using case examples.

Dr Aynur Özge Professor of Neurology, Algology, and Clinical Neurophysiology at Mersin University School of Medicine, Turkey. Dr Özge has served as a board member of the International Headache Society (IHS) since 2019 and is the founder and current president of the Global Migraine and Pain Summit.

Füsun Mayda Domaç graduated from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, Türkiye. She completed Neurology residency at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital, İstanbul, Türkiye. She has a master’s degree in Clinical Neurophysiology. She became Associate Professor in 2012 and Professor in 2020 at the Department of Neurology, University of Health Sciences, Türkiye.

Hatice Reyhan Özgöbek (PhD) graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, Türkiye. She completed her doctorate in health management at Hacettepe University, Türkiye.

Derya Uludüz (MD) graduated from Istanbul University, Çapa Medical Faculty, Türkiye. She completed Neurology residency at Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, Türkiye. She became Associate Professor in 2011 and Professor in 2017 at the same institution.
