It is expected that an estimated one in six white men and one in five Black men would be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, with the likelihood increasing with age. The American Cancer Society had estimated that 288,300 new cases of prostate cancer would be diagnosed in 2023. Rare prostate cancers do portend a more aggressive biological behaviour with inferior prognosis. Many of these rare prostate cancers had tended to be mis-diagnosed initially or there has tended to be a delay in the correct diagnosis. The ensuing book would hopefully help in updating the literature on rare neoplasms of the prostate gland to help speed up the correct diagnosis and treatment of these more aggressive tumours and to encourage clinicians to undertake more research to find new treatment options for rare malignant tumours of the prostate gland.
