Dr John J. Rodger, BA, PhD is Honorary Senior Research Fellow in the School of Education and Social Sciences at the University of the West of Scotland. He was formerly an Associate Dean and Reader in Sociology and Social Policy at the University before retiring in 2014. He is the author of Family Life and Social Control: A Sociological Perspective (1996), From a Welfare State to a Welfare Society (2000), Criminalising Social Policy (2008) and The Welfare System and the Social Lifeworld, (2019). He has also published widely in major academic journals such as the Journal of Social Work, International Journal of Sociology & Social Policy, Social Policy and Administration, The Sociological Review, Sociology, and Political Studies.
