Maciej Wacławik received a PhD at the Department of Egyptian and Near East Archaeology from Jagiellonian University’s Institute of Archaeology (Poland) in 2021. He is interested in the influence of ancient pagan civilisations on the Christian religion and culture, the meaning of the Negev Desert in the Byzantine period, and metal objects and weighing systems in the Mediterranean during the Roman and Byzantine periods. He has taken part in excavations in Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Egypt, the United States, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan and Tunisia. Since 2017, he has conducted the Byzantine Settlement of the Negev project (BSN).
