Giuseppina Pizzigoni was a pioneer of Italy’s ‘new school’ movement. In 1911, she created the Rinnovata Pizzigoni school, anticipating the comprehensive model. This book explores the evolution of her experimental method and its creative pedagogical development.
Sandra Chistolini
Sandra Chistolini, PhD, is Full Professor of General and Social Pedagogy at Roma Tre University, Italy. Her research interests are comparative education, intercultural and citizenship education, teacher education, curriculum development, innovation strategies of teaching and learning, theory and practice of school methods, and outdoor education. She is a member of the Scientific Boards of a number of international journals in education, and was nominated for the International Biographical Centre Woman of the Year in 2017. She is the author of some 500 monographs and scientific articles, including Vico and Tagore. The Humanistic Pedagogy beyond Boundaries (2014), Decoding the Disciplines in European Institutions of Higher Education: Intercultural and Interdisciplinary Approach to Teaching and Learning (2019), and the journal article “The Turning Point of Italian Scientific Pedagogy in the School of Maria Montessori and Giuseppina Pizzigoni” in European Journal of Educational Sciences (2020).
