This book sets out on an intellectual journey, with each chapter acting as a unique compass to lead the reader through the critical perspectives on resistance waiting to be discovered in 21st-century British literature. As such, the book appeals to general readers, including undergraduates, researchers, professionals, and anyone who is interested in cultural studies, literary studies, the humanities, and sociology, particularly resistance and discourse studies.

Nilay Erdem Ayyıldız works as an associate professor in the Department of Foreign Language Education at Fırat University, Turkey. She graduated in English Language and Literature at Hacettepe University, Turkey, and obtained her MA in the same subject at Fırat University, Turkey. She completed her PhD at Atılım University, Turkey. Her dissertation, which covered the representation of the colonial ideology in 19th-century British children’s adventure novels, was published as a book titled “British Children’s Adventure Novels in the Web of Colonialism” (2018). She is also the author of “The Exercise of Biopower through Race and Class in the Harry Potter Series” (2020), and is the editor of “Representation of Ideologies in Electronic Media for Children and Young Adults” (2021). Her areas of interest are the works of Victorian and children’s literature and postcolonial and gender studies, on which she has delivered conference papers and published journal articles.
