This book is a comprehensive interpretation of the contemporary Romanian writers’ contribution to the enrichment of the universal discourse with unique cultural meanings. Whilst offering sound literary criticism of numerous literary publications that came out after the 1989 Romanian Revolution, the book endeavours to offer insight into Romanian culture, via a focus on its most necessary tenet: Romanian contemporary literature. As it turns out, finding the voice of a people is never an easy chore. This publication makes the implicit statement that in reading contemporary Romanian literature and its interpretations, audiences may gain access to the heart of these people’s culture. The book helps us to understand Romanian culture in the very terms that the Romanian people want to present themselves to the world.

The book provides a unique opportunity for cultural theorists worldwide to explore the huge possibilities of meaning-making, and understand what an enduring people like the Romanian people can offer to the world.
