This book dares to offer a deeply personal glimpse into the journey of becoming a Jungian analyst. The reader is invited into the safe temenos of the author’s training analysis, with an analyst who challenges the author to reach beyond herself and develop deep intimacy. With suffering, a flood of dreams, and an insatiable longing for her analyst’s hand, the author discovers the force of Self in the second half of life that insists on leading the way. The journey emphasizes how analysis is learned via an apprenticeship forged in sitting at the feet of the elders. This includes working with a tough and compassionate supervising analyst who is a Holocaust survivor. Readers witness the joining of the intimate training group as “siblings” and partners in crime. Finally, the author shares her political transformations in the shadows of war and brokenness of the world that inspires her to meet the “artist within” and helps to make her mark on the world.
