This book is a study of the Left and its politics. Through a series of connected essays, it tries to outline the specific ideas which make up the politics of the modern Left – the politics of Socialism, Humanism, and Emancipation. The book is also an unapologetically political study. It argues for the Left, for a better Left, for a Left that can change the world.

Rhys Glyn Williams is a writer and political essayist. He is a graduate of the Australian National University (ANU), the University of Canberra (UC), and the London School of Economics (LSE). Politically he is a Socialist (Socialist Humanist), and a member of the Labour Party (UK) and the Australian Labor Party (ALP). He works in education, with a particular interest in continuing education.
