This book focuses on the climate dynamics of the Indian subcontinent and the role of tropical regions in modulating global climate vis-à-vis the impact of ongoing warming on tropical regions over the Indian subcontinent. The authors discuss topics in the mainstream regarding climate change assessment in India, covering both land and marine realms.
Structured case studies are presented from diversified geological archives to help understand climate change that occurred in the past using various proxies. It consists of data generated from various environments, such as glacial, fluvial, marine and terrestrial, to reconstruct the paleoclimate and offer context for evaluating today’s climate in relation to the tropics. The Indian subcontinent represents the tropics that play an essential role in the dynamic process of global climate change and are often considered a cause or trigger for climate change. This book also sheds light on the changing climate over the geological past. The data and insights provided in this book offer climate science and geology researchers important context and practical data for understanding the climate dynamics during the past.

Dr Neloy Khare is an Adviser to the Government of India at the Ministry of Earth Sciences. His research focuses on the Antarctic, Arctic, and global oceans. He has 30 years of experience in paleoclimate research. He completed his PhD in Tropical Marine Regions and became a Doctor of Science on Southern high latitude marine regions towards environmental/climatic implications. Several Indian Universities granted Dr Khare Honorary and Adjunct Professorships. He has received many coveted awards and recognitions for his scientific pursuits.
