In “Democracy and the Paradox of Developmental State in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic”, selected scholars delve into the intricate dynamics between democratic governance and the aspirations of a developmental state in Nigeria’s contemporary political landscape. This thought-provoking work critically examines the tension between the principles of democracy and the need for effective state intervention in economic development, exploring how the Fourth Republic has navigated this complex interplay. Through a comprehensive analysis, the book unveils the contradictions inherent in Nigeria’s political and economic structure, revealing how democratic ideals often clash with the realities of governance, policy implementation, and economic progress.
