The present book explores how Russia has pursued its aspiration to be recognized as a great power throughout its history and its actions to achieve this aim. From the imperial period to the Soviet era, Russia has consistently sought to uphold its reputation as a formidable player in the international system. The Russian Federation strategically moves to maintain this great/superpower status. The book aims to analyze Russia’s role in the international arena by examining key themes, including its foreign policy identity, the use of military power, energy policies, and relationships with the system. These themes provide a comprehensive framework for understanding Russia’s international role. A comprehensive analysis of the historical and cynical context, current policies, and future strategies is essential for understanding the complexities surrounding Russia’s emergence as a great power. In this framework, we can say that the Putin era has significantly facilitated Russia’s pursuit of its strategic objectives. This period has enabled the nation to reaffirm its status as a prominent player within the international arena.
