This book is aimed at academic scholars and preachers who deal with homiletical praxeology weekly. Its purpose is to focus on the rhetorical appeal of the Biblical text, which is alluded to from the viewpoint of the five preaching blocks according to Matthew’s Gospel and the Hebrew sermon. The book’s uniqueness is encapsulated in the idea that it is a practical theological and homiletical study. Consequently, the book offers empirical perspectives on literary forms and an inter-disciplinary engagement with neighbour sciences before presenting normative perspectives. This book posits that faith communities should be exposed to more literary forms to realise that the library of the Gospel and its literature does have a rhetorical appeal that should be preached according to its purpose. The unique structure and way the Gospel portrays the Kingdom that has come near, as well as the Hebrews sermon offering perspectives on attitude change, could enrich a homiletical practice.
