Innovations in Bioactive Compound Discovery

Prof (Dr) N. C. Talukdar is the Vice Chancellor of Assam Down Town University, Guwahati, India. He holds a graduate degree in Agriculture from Assam Agricultural University and a postgraduate degree in Soil Chemistry from Punjab Agricultural University, India. He earned his PhD from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, under a Canadian Commonwealth Fellowship. Prof Talukdar completed post-doctoral research as an FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and as a Department of Biotechnology, Government of India Overseas Associate at the University of Warwick, UK, focusing on rhizosphere community dynamics. He has served as a visiting professor, resource person, expert member, and chairperson in various regional and national organizations.

Dr Suman Kumar Samanta is a senior research faculty at Assam Down Town University. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, followed by post-doctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh, USA. With expertise in molecular pharmacology, natural product chemistry, and tumor biology, his research focuses on drug development using medicinal plants to combat cancer and metabolic syndrome. Dr Samanta’s work bridges innovative therapeutics and pharmaceutical advancements for disease prevention and treatment.
