This book provides concise and updated information on trauma, consisting of current evidence-based techniques, practical guidelines, and new concepts and advancements in the field, including decision making from the golden hour to definitive treatment. Dr Lee Kin-Yan graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and obtained his Fellowships at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal Australasian College of Surgery, and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2003. He underwent overseas training in Traumatology and Vascular Surgery at the Harbor View Medical Centre of the University of Washington in 2004. He is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Hong Kong Central Committee on Trauma Service, the Immediate Past Chairman of Sub-Specialty Group in Vascular Surgery of Hong Kong Hospital Authority, and an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong. He is the representative of Hong Kong in the Asian Collaboration on Trauma, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr Mina Cheng graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 2007. She obtained her Fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2014, receiving Li Shield’s Gold Medal for being the most outstanding FRCS candidate. She was also recognized as a Distinguished Young Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine in 2015. She is an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor of the University of Hong Kong, and a faculty member and founder of both local and overseas trauma courses. Her presentation on the management of haemodynamically unstable pelvic fractures won the ATLS Region 16 Resident Trauma Paper Competition in Australia in 2013, and she was awarded the Best Asia Pacific Scientific Paper on Trauma by the American College of Surgeons in 2014. In 2019, she was selected as one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons, and received the Hospital Authority and Queen Elizabeth Young Achiever Awards. She also became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2020.
