His research activities focus on cooperation, coopetition, strategic management, digitizing and social media, supply chain management, sustainability and entrepreneurship, mainly in the branches of information communication technology, forest industry and tourism. In addition to several book chapters, his articles have appeared in the European Management Journal, Forest Policy and Economics, International Journal of Business Environment, Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of Innovation in the Digital Economy and International Journal of Tourism Research, among others.

Ville Pietiläinen is a senior university lecturer at the University of Lapland. His professional background derives from Human Resource Management and Human Resource Development functions in the private and public sectors. He has investigated public administration, leadership psychology, and management for over fifteen years, concentrating on intertwining digitalization, AI and human experience in the work context. He has published over 40 research articles and scientific book chapters with numerous well-known publishing houses.
