This book stands at the forefront of innovation, offering a deep dive into the latest advancements in gas sensing technology, with a unique emphasis on integrating machine learning techniques to enhance sensor performance.
Unlike traditional texts that focus purely on sensor materials or fabrication techniques, this book takes a multidisciplinary approach, bridging chemistry, electronics, and artificial intelligence.
This book is an essential resource for professionals in academia and industry, including researchers, engineers, and students working in fields such as air quality monitoring, industrial safety, healthcare diagnostics, and smart cities. Whether you are looking to develop more accurate gas detection systems, optimize sensor networks, or integrate machine learning into gas sensing applications, this book provides the tools and knowledge needed to drive innovation in this dynamic field.
With a blend of theoretical insights and hands-on applications, it serves as both an educational reference and a practical guide.

Dr Abdelghaffar Nasri received his PhD in Electronics in 2018. His research emphasizes integrating machine learning with sensor technology to improve sensitivity, selectivity, and environmental monitoring accuracy. Specializing in physical properties and fabrication technologies, Dr Nasri enhances gas sensors by optimizing material composition, surface morphology, and structural stability. His work combines data-driven techniques with tailored materials to create intelligent, highly responsive sensors, suitable for applications in diagnostics and environmental safety. His expertise spans sensor design, electronic HW & SW, and machine learning, advancing next-generation detection systems for real-world applications.

Dr Lassaad Barhoumi received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physics Option Electronics in 2011 from the University of Monastir, Tunisia. In 2013, he also received his Master’s degree in Micro-Nano Electronics from the same institution. Between 2015 and 2018, he obtained his PhD at the University of Sousse, the European Commission, 7th Framework Programme, Marie Curie Actions IRSES (FP7-PEOPLE-2012-IRSES), Grant No. 318053: SMARTCANCERSENS. Afterwards, between 2021 and 2024, he was a teacher researcher at the University of Sousse, University of Orléans and University of Grenoble, both France. From September 2024, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the national center for scientific research (CNRS) in Grenoble. He is involved in the Papelkiss de Institut Carnot Polynat project.
