Recent studies on migration have been given a new focus and theoretical framework. The so-called “political dimension” of Diasporas, and their action at the international level as agents of para-diplomacy, as well as the introduction of analysis of the trans-national character of the migratory phenomenon, allow us to dig deeply into the field of our investigations, taking us out of the narrow frame of the Nation State.

Maria Eugenia Cruset is an historian specializing in International Relations with particular focus on diasporas and migration. She is a Professor at La Plata University and Católica La Plata University in Argentina, and Vasco de Quiroga in Mexico. She has taught as well as lectured at many universities in Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Ireland and Spain. She is Chair of the “Irish Lecture” at La Plata University and Director of the “Migration network” at Santiago de Chile University. She has published three books and over twenty articles. Currently her research interests include trasnational migration and diasporas strategies, and peace processes.
