The contributions to this book examine various facets of the work of Shakespeare from an Eastern perspective. As such, Fundamental Shakespeare sheds fresh light on, and offers new insights to, a wide range of topics including politics, psychology and discourse. Divided into three separate categories, this volume brings to the fore long-standing, but under-explored areas of Shakespeare studies.

Ali Salami is a Shakespearean scholar, lexicographer, literary translator, and Professor of English Literature at the University of Tehran. An internationally published author, Salami has published dozens of scholarly articles on gender and discourse, comparative literature, Shakespeare, and postcolonial literature, and is the author of Shakespeare and the Reader (Chicago, 2013).

Maryam Beyad is Professor of English Literature at the University of Tehran. Her areas of interest are Shakespeare, the Renaissance, and Victorian literature. Beyad is currently Head of the English Department at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Tehran.
