This book provides a detailed critical analysis of burnout, a concept first illuminated by Herbert Freudenberger. By citing arguments that show the inconsistencies and dangers of a general diagnosis, the book shows the effects this may have on the medical sector. With 140 symptoms and the absence of a negative diagnosis, this book argues that burnout represents the widest medicalization of human life that we know of.
