Dr Ali BastaniNezhad is Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Education of Monash University, Australia. He received his PhD from Monash University in 2013. His research focuses on the hybridized forms of music pedagogy and the ways in which musical values are re-negotiated in modern Iranian pedagogy. As a performer, he is technically capable on both the Iranian Ney and the Western transverse flute. He is a versatile and international performer and has collaborated with renowned contemporary composers worldwide.

Dr Jane Southcott is a professor at the Faculty of Education of Monash University, Australia. As a phenomenologist, she researches education, cultural identities and hybridity, and community engagement with the arts focusing on positive ageing. She is Immediate Past President of the Australian and New Zealand Association for Research in Music Education and the co-editor of the International Journal of Music Education.
