This book presents a detailed examination of twenty-five cases of deadly terrorism in America from the late 1960s to the Boston Marathon bombing. These are analyzed to see how law enforcement identified and apprehended those responsible, as well as their subsequent trials. Later chapters examine so-called terrorism “preventions” and the efforts by the Department of Homeland Security to block terrorism attacks from abroad.

Christopher Hewitt is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Maryland – Baltimore County, having previously taught in the Security Studies program at Georgetown University. His publications include five books, as well as 27 journal articles and book chapters. His research mainly deals with terrorism and ethnic conflict.
