The study of meteorites is wide-ranging, leading into many areas of technology and science. This book provides insights into the meteorites that fall and are found in the North-eastern region of India, and will appeal to the reader interested in the spectroscopic studies of planetary materials. It focuses on basic findings using Raman and infrared spectroscopic techniques on selected meteorites.

It also places particular emphasis on silicate minerals found in ordinary chondrites, and provides a list of Indian meteorites and a glossary of meteorite terms.

Bhaskar J. Saikia received his PhD in Physics from Dibrugarh University, India. He began his research career at the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, India, before moving on to conduct postdoctoral research on Environmental Sciences at the G. B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Sustainable Development, India. His specialization is spectroscopy, and earth and planetary sciences. He has more than sixty-five research papers to his credit, and currently works as an Assistant Professor of Physics at Anandaram Dhekial Phookan College, India.
