The Politics of Culture

Ibtisam Ahmed is a doctoral researcher in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, UK. His thesis interrogates colonialism as a form of utopia, shifting the focus towards marginalised grassroots community utopias. He has published work in various outlets, and is also actively involved in activism around decriminalising homosexuality in the Commonwealth of Nations, including in his capacity as LGBT History Month Coordinator for the Centre for Research in Race and Rights at the University of Nottingham.

Elena Colombo is a doctoral researcher in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, UK. Her research focuses on the expressions of utopian hope within environmental dystopian novels. She is also a Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice at the University of Nottingham, and has taught ancient and modern political theory at the same institution.

Robyn Muir is a doctoral researcher in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, UK. Her research focuses on the image and role of femininity within culture, specifically within the Disney Princess phenomenon. Her research interests include gender representation within popular culture and the politics of merchandising and marketing. She is also a Fellow at the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice at the University of Nottingham.
