This book presents a detailed consideration of the methodological principles and the main methodological techniques of statistical research. It covers the history of the conception of statistics, a statistical observation, tabulating and grouping, the analysis of distribution rows, the sampling method, the analysis of dynamic rows, the index method, and the statistical study of interconnections. As such, the book illustrates the conditions and peculiarities of the use of statistical methods, and will help the reader interpret the results of their studies properly. Dr Natalia Kovtun, HDR, is Full Professor and Head of the Department of Statistics, Information Analysis Systems and Demography of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. She has published 145 scientific articles, and is the author of four monographs and 14 textbooks. She is a member of the Methodological Committee on Improving Methodology and Statistical Documentation of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, and was awarded the M.V. Ptukha Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for her work.
