  • "[…] the book has demonstrated a valuable empirical attempt in cross-cultural research on criminology. Zhang’s empirical endeavor can provoke more reflections on local peculiarities and theoretical limitations. At the end of the book, Zhang discusses theoretical, methodological, and analytical issues to guide readers to move further down the path of the journey on cross-cultural research on the neighborhood effect (see Chapter 9). It is a good reference for readers interested in comparative criminology, the neighborhood effect, and quantitative analyses in sociology or criminology."
