This book highlights marine pollution in the Bizerte Lagoon in Tunisia, offering insights into the distribution and source of contamination in the marine environment. It presents, for the first time, the study of the pesticides in the different compartments of the aquatic ecosystem: surface water, sediment, suspended particles and sediment cores. It provides an assessment of the quality of the lagoon environment by comparing the results found in other studies in the world and with the levels set by the Global Organization of Human Health.

Dr Mouna Necibi is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the High Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technologies of Borj Cedria of the University of Carthage, Tunisia. She is the author of seven journal articles and two book chapters, and has participated in several national and international events.

Pr Nadia Mzoughi is the President of the University of Carthage, Tunisia, in charge of programs, training and international cooperation, and is a member of the Environmental Sciences and Technologies Laboratory and the Association of Sea Sciences. She is also President of the Tunisian Association of Industrial, Environment and Research, and serves as a reviewer for many international journals. She is the author of more than 30 publications and 50 national and international communications.
