This volume investigates a wide variety of topics at the forefront of linguistic research, with a specific focus on generative syntax, semantics, language acquisition, and traductology. It compares English and Romanian linguistic data to those of Romance and other European and non-European languages. The volume also includes valuable contributions discussing the challenges of translating specialised or literary texts.

Mihaela Tănase-Dogaru is a Professor at the English Department of the University of Bucharest, having received her PhD from the same institution in 2007. Her research interests are partitivity, definiteness, specificity, bare nouns, nominalizations, and datives.

Alina Tigău is a Professor at the English Department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest, having received her PhD from the same institution in 2010. Since 2016, she has worked as a Humboldt Fellow and as a member of the research project Internal Arguments in Romance at the University of Cologne, Germany.

Ioana Stoicescu is a Lecturer at the English Department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest, and holds a PhD in Linguistics from the same institution. Her work has focused on the acquisition of tense and aspect in child Romanian, as well as scalar implicatures, and anaphora resolution.

Mihaela Zamfirescu is an Associate Professor at the English Department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures of the University of Bucharest. She earned her PhD in 2012, with a thesis devoted to the syntax and semantics of positive polarity items in English and Romanian.
