This book provides a comprehensive knowledge of medicinal plants, phytomolecules, and their derivatives, playing a crucial role in the area of antimicrobials. By providing a comprehensive overview of the latest research and developments in phytochemistry and pharmacology, the book underscores the significance of medicinal plants as a rich and sustainable source of novel antimicrobial agents. The book is intended as a valuable resource for researchers, pharmacologists, and healthcare professionals seeking to develop effective and eco-friendly solutions to combat antibiotic resistance and emerging infectious diseases.

Dr Harish C. Upadhyay is a prominent researcher in phytochemistry and pharmacology, focusing on bioactive compounds from medicinal plants. With over a decade of experience, his work has significantly advanced drug discovery, particularly in identifying plant-derived compounds with antimicrobial properties. Dr Upadhyay earned his PhD in medicinal chemistry from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, India, where his research contributed to the development of novel phytochemicals for combating antibiotic-resistant pathogens. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and presented his research at international conferences. His expertise spans natural product chemistry, the chemical transformation of bioactive leads, structure-activity relationships, and computer-aided drug design for sustainable pharmaceuticals. Currently, Dr Upadhyay is a faculty member in the Department of Applied Sciences at Rajkiya Engineering College, Churk, Sonbhadra, India, affiliated with Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, India. He actively mentors young scientists and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration in natural product research. His work continues to inspire innovative solutions for global health challenges through the exploration of medicinal plants’ chemical diversity and biological activity.
