Artificial intelligence (AI) is the most disruptive technological field today as it transforms virtually all spheres of life of the modern society, from healthcare, finance, security and defense to autonomous vehicles, social regulation, drug discovery, code development and cutting-edge research on general human-like intelligence. This volume explores topics such as the problems of ethical AI and the prospects of technology reaching human-like intelligence. It includes a broad spectrum of approaches to the field which discuss artificial intelligence from the stances of ethics, economics, game theory, defense studies, computer science and philosophy.

Dr Boris D. Grozdanoff is a philosopher of science who works in the fields of scientific epistemology and artificial intelligence. He holds doctoral degrees in Analytic Epistemology and Philosophy of Science. His areas of research are a priori knowledge and artificial intelligence and he has published two books, on thought experiments in science and the dynamics of scientific theories. Former Marie Curie Fellow at Oxford University’s philosophy of physics group he is a cofounder of the AI start-up RAISON. He is affiliated with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Defence & International Security Institute (DISI) and the quantum security company QAISEC.

Dr Zdravko Popov held an Associate Professorship in Philosophy at the University of Sofia for many years. His areas of research range from ancient myths and their role in ancient philosophy to the problem of time and the dynamics of state structures in political philosophy. He is the founder of the Diplomatic Institute of the MFA of Bulgaria and also served as the Chairman of UNICEF-Bulgaria and as an Ambassador to the Czech Republic. He is the founder and current president of the Public Policy Institute as well as an editor-in-chief of the Diplomacy Journal.

Dr Silviya Serafimova is an Associate Professor at the Department of Ethical Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and holds a doctoral degree in ethics from Sofia University, Bulgaria. She is the author of six books and more than 45 articles for peer-reviewed journals.
